The Praça do Comércio (Portuguese pronunciation: ['p?as? du ku'm??siu]; English:Commerce Square) is located in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. Situated near theTagus river, the square is still commonly known as Terreiro do Paço ([t?'?ej?u du 'pasu]; English: Palace Square), because it was the location of the Paços da Ribeira (Royal Ribeira Palace) until it was destroyed by the great 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was completely remodelled as part of the rebuilding of the Pombaline Downtown, ordered by the Marquis of Pombal.

Atrás.... a maravilhosa Rua Augusta!!! Aiiiii..... :)

Comércio Square

Lisbon's grandest square faces the river and was originally used to welcome those arriving in the city by boat.
This is the 18th century version (renovated in 2010) of the original square which was named "Terreiro do Paço" and home to the royal palace.
It was all destroyed by the 1755 earthquake and rebuilt with a triumphal arch facing the river.
The arcaded buildings that surround it hold government offices while in the center is a monument to King José I.
It is also home to one of the city's most historical cafés ("Martinho da Arcada") which stands under one of the arcaded buildings.
On another side of the square is the "Lisboa Welcome Center," the city's main tourism office.
